Our longest running supplier relationship – which now spans two generations – is with Nev and Carol and their son Scott. The Bredden's are veteran beef farmers who were introduced to the concept of organic food in the '90s, when they decided to start growing organic herbs. They supplied Sue and Royce Hagen – who owned the fruit and vegetable store at the Prahran Market at the time – with herbs for several years. When Royce decided to open an organic butcher, the Bredden's turned their attention to raising organic beef. Nev and Carol worked for years to get their entire 184-hectare farm certified organic, and they have never looked back.The herd is primarily made up of black Angus beef that are predominantly grass-fed but have their diets supplemented with certified organic hay during the dry season. Their principles are about caring for the animal and caring for the land. “We can do anything any other farmer can do,” says Nev. “It just takes us a little longer to get there.” As well as our farmers and suppliers, we're proud to call the Bredden's friends.
