At Hagens we believe that chemical free is always the best way.

It is this philosophy that has lead us to create a ham and bacon curing process that is free of all preservatives, flavour enhancers, phosphates, synthetic nitrates and also gluten free. We use this approach on our hams and bacon and also for our corned beef. 

Our cure is made from celery powder as celery has naturally occurring nitrate, therefore we can cure our hams and bacon with none of the bad man-made chemicals normally used. 

We smoke our hams and bacon for 12 hours using an English beech wood chip which gives a great golden colour and beautiful smoked flavour.
