It goes without saying, that the ham is the ultimate hero of a festive feast, so you better pay it the respect it deserves! The good thing is, it couldn't be easier. We've created a step by step video to teach you how to remove the skin, score, glaze and cook a mouth-watering ham that's sure to impress your family and friends over the most indulgent feast of the year!
Pull back the skin
Lightly score the white fat in a criss-cross pattern
‘Stud’ the entire ham with cloves in the middle of the X where the criss-crosses meet
Place the ham in a baking dish and use a pastry brush to cover it in your preferred glaze
Bake at about 180C for around 20 minutes, or until the ham begins to brown
Do a second coat of the glaze, return it to the oven and continue to bake until browned all over
Remember that the ham has already been ‘cooked’ during the smoking process, and only needs to be baked until the glaze on top is golden — too much oven time will dry it out!
