Camping Series

With holiday destinations being limited, we’ve been forced to explore more of our local vacation spots. One of the best ways to explore Victoria is by packing up the car and going camping!

Over this week we’re here to share with you some of our go-to camping recipes, tips and tricks and hopefully encourage you to hit the road and explore our amazing backyard.                                                                                                    
  1. Food prep! Prep all marinades, dressings ahead of time. The longer you marinate the meat, the more flavour you will impart.
  2. Add your favourite spices into a kit so that you’ve got what you need, or better yet, blend your go-to spice mixes and dispense into containers. Our favourite’s are Taco: cumin, smoked paprika and coriander and Curry: cumin, coriander, turmeric, cardamom, chilli.
  3. Utilise fast cooking grains like quinoa or couscous as opposed to pasta and rice.
  4. Bring your favourite coffee utensil, whether that’s an aeropress, french press or classic moka pot. Market lane can grind your beans for whatever method you prefer to use.
  5. If you’re going to purchase good quality meat, do yourself a favour and cook it on a cast iron pan. Cast iron distributes heat evenly and can withstand high temperatures. Look after it and it’ll last a lifetime and whatever you do, don’t ever wash it with soap!
