Easy Ways to Reduce Food Waste

Did you know that Australians throw away nearly $20 billion worth of food wasteaa year? With the launch of our Seasonal Peak Box with Natoora Melbourne we thought it was important to make sure you get the most out of this delicious veg, so uncover our favourite veggie saving hacks!

1. Lettuce: Start by trimming the ends, giving it a quick rinse, and patting it dry. Place a tea towel in a reusable container and arrange the lettuce leaves on top. This simple trick will keep your lettuce crisp and fresh.

2. Celery and Carrots:  Cut the celery into pieces and leave the carrots whole, give them a thorough rinse, and then submerge them in a water bath inside a reusable container. This method keeps them hydrated and perfect for snacking.

3. Herbs: Give them a gentle wash, then roll them up in a tea towel. This can keep your herbs fresh for up to two weeks.

4. Leafy Greens: To keep your leafy greens vibrant and fresh, wring out a wet tea towel and then carefully roll the greens inside. This creates a humid environment that prevents the greens from drying out.

Next time your unpacking your fruit and veg make sure to give simple and money saving hacks a go, you can significantly reduce food waste in your household while enjoying fresh, and seasonal produce.
